Der Film ist eine philosophische Medien-Reflektion über den kulturellen und politischen Raum des postsozialistischen Ex-Jugoslawien in den 90er Jahren. 3 Künstler (-gruppen) aus Ljubljana (IRWIN), Zagreb (Mladen Stilinović) und Belgrad (“Kazimir Malević”) und ihre künstlerischen Projekte werden vorgestellt.

The video is based on the philosophical text Mapping Postsocialism by Marina Gržinić, which is a kind of philosophical-media reflection (tractates) about the cultural-artistic and political space  about the condition of post-socialism in the territory of ex-Yugoslavia in the 1980s and 1990s. Three artists  art group respectively coming from Ljubljana  (IRWIN), Zagreb (Mladen Stilinovic) and Belgrade (the artist known only by his fake name, as "Kasimir Malevich") with their artistic projects and especially with their relation to the socialist and post-socialist ideology code in a specific way the ex-Yugoslavia space territory. RETROAVANTGARDA is the result of this coding process: retroavantgarda is a specific aesthetic and social movement produced by these artists and some other coming from Eastern Europe in the recent period. The video is filled and mixed with some exclusive documentary footage.
